Hello friends! We’re so pleased to see you here at the opening of our new blog, Wordy and Whimsical. *waves* We’ve been planning and planning and planning our comeback for months now, so it feels kind of unreal to finally launch our site.
Who are we?
We are Veronika and Ruzaika, two twenty-somethings who’ve been blogging together for years over at The Regal Critiques. As soon as she comes back from her hiatus, we’ll be joined by our third co-blogger, Clare. You can read more about us in the, you guessed it, About section of the blog.
What is Wordy and Whimsical?
As you may have seen displayed on our header, we opted for calling Wordy and Whimsical “a book blog, safe space and more.” That means that, at its core, W&W is a book blog, however, we have been wanting to broach out a little and share more of ourselves with you, which is what the “and more” bit refers to.
It’s also important to mention that in the past year, maybe more, we have felt less and less connected to our previous blog, The Regal Critiques. I’ve been so proud of the two events we put out at the end of 2018, and yet, I was so unsatisfied with where the blog was heading… somewhere along the way, the whole vibe of the blog started to feel off. Thus the safe space bit, for me, signifies that Wordy and Whimsical means to be a less stressful endeavor for us and a place for our readers and blogger friends to connect with us in an environment that feels warm and welcoming, regardless of race, religion, gender or sexuality.
Why did we move?
Like Vera mentioned, we had been feeling a growing disconnect with our previous blog, owing to the fact that not only were we feeling a little too restricted, we were also skeptical of Blogger working out for us as a platform in the long run. With more and more of our favorite bloggers opting for WordPress, we felt our readership itself was bound to change soon too. We’re still not very sure this is the bestest move since we’re still figuring our way around here, but we hope this will be the start of a very satisfying blogging journey, both for us and for you, our readers!
What can you expect from us in the future?
While we are primarily a YA book blog, we also love to read and review MG, NA and Adult books so you can expect a wide variety of bookish posts at W&W, across genres. We champion diverse books, particularly #ownvoices, and love screaming about all things bookish in general. So reviews, discussions, lists…we’ll do them all! In addition to this, we also hope to talk about other things we are passionate about, like mental health, pop culture, movies, TV shows, etc. True to our tagline.
We’d love to hear from you!
We’re so excited for this new chapter in our lives, and we’d love to hear from y’all, no matter if you’re an old friend or if this is our first time meeting. If you leave a comment for us, make sure to leave a link to your blog, because we’d love to visit and chat with you there as well. Until next time, bye!
Congratulations on your new blog! I’m looking forward to reading your posts. I’m always looking for YA and NA recommendations (especially for #ownvoices books).

Thank you, Amber! We opted for not transferring our previous posts to this blog exactly because it would have been so much work haha.

Thank you! We decided not to bring out old content with us, so it wasn’t that challenging to switch to wordpress, but it was hard to get used to the new format etc. first.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh I have found you at last! Being away from social media has not helped. 😂😭 I’m so excited to see what you all have in store! I definitely get that feeling of disconnect from Blogger, and I think that may have contributed to my move last year.
