Bye for Now – A Hiatus Announcement

Hello friends! 😊 Unfortunately, we are here with a bit of a sad post today, as we came here to announce a hiatus. As those of you who have been with us for a while will know, we have already taken a hiatus earlier this year, hoping to come back with more energy and enthusiasm, and to be able to continue blogging. While we were excited to come back with our blogiversary post in April and we have put out multiple posts we love since then, we have simultaneously been struggling with keeping our blog afloat.

The reason why this is especially sad for us is that we truly believed that the smaller hiatus we took would help… but it didn’t. We have been struggling to churn out content and, frankly, we haven’t been good at answering to your lovely comments, or at visiting our favorite blogs. We have mentioned before that our favorite part of blogging is interacting with the community – both here and on your blogs – so it’s not surprising that our inability to do these things has sucked out the fun of blogging. At the same time, we have been struggling with reading slumps in the past few months, which has most likely contributed to our issues with blogging. As such, we believe it’s high time for us to go on a longer hiatus, for an unspecified amount of time.

We have been discussing this and our belief is that we will want to come back, as we have always loved blogging and we are sure we will miss it. We might have to implement some changes if / when we come back – e.g. post only once per week – but rest assured, our hope is to come back someday, perhaps in a couple of months. πŸ’™

  1. I’m sorry to hear this! Blogging is such a wonderful way to express yourself and stay connected but it can also be very draining.. I hope a hiatus helps you find that spark again!

  2. I know you both have a lot on your plate, so it makes sense to take some time off. I’ve just started blogging again after a month-long hiatus and I’m not even working at the moment, but I’m exhausted already LOL (Thank goodness, I’m not in a reading slump…I don’t know what those are πŸ˜‰). I hope you’ll be able to find a balance that allows you to keep blogging, only at a different pace. I would hate to lose you πŸ’œ.

  3. I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been also slagging off commenting and interacting and it’s making me so sad. Life can be soul sucking. Wishing you nothing but the best πŸ’•

  4. As someone who’s been contemplating a hiatus as well, I totally understand this! I hope your hiatus helps you relax and rediscover your passion for books and reading! I hope I’ll see your posts again sometime in the future once you both are feeling ready!

  5. I completely understand your decision and 100% believe you need to prioritise what is best for the both of you ❀️ blogging can be very taxing and you need breaks… I think I had a year off with a couple of posts in between at one point, but it was the best thing I ever did for my blog. My relationship with blogging before and after that long break was so different! It is much better now.
I will miss your posts of course, but I wish the best for both of you πŸ’—πŸ’—

  9. I missed this post when it went online, but I just wanted to say that you should take as much time as you need, the community will still be here! I know that there’s no use in moving forward if there’s no fun involved at all anymore. Take care of yourselves! ❀

  10. I’m so sorry that you both have been struggling with burn out and am happy that you’re taking the time needed to rest. I had a similar thing happen this year – two unplanned hiatuses for month+ at a time; the most recent time I came back I decreased my posting frequency to once a week and that helped a LOT.

Hopefully you’ll be able to make tweaks for a more sustainable blogging journey once you’ve taken your rest.
